Genesis 43:12
Also take double the money that was put back in your sacks, as it was probably someone’s mistake.
Life Lesson
Today’s word (Word Of Reflection Daily) begins just as food from Egypt runs out and Jacob then asks his sons to go back to buy a little more (food). It begins also after Judah tells his father Joseph warned them not to come back unless they return with their brother Benjamin. It is here wherein after first relenting Jacob then agrees.
In meditating over today’s passage the thought which comes to mind is integrity, defined as “the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness.” There are so many good reasons to be honest from man’s perspective. However, there are many even better reasons to be honest and show/have integrity from God’s viewpoint. Here are just a few. Proverbs 10:9 for example says, “People with integrity walk safely, but those who follow crooked paths will slip and fall.” Furthermore, Proverbs 12:22 says, “The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth.” Additionally, Titus 2:7-8 says, “And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching. Teach the truth so that your teaching can’t be criticized. Then those who oppose us will be ashamed and have nothing bad to say about us.”
Hence, my take away today is remembering often and as necessary what Paul says in Philippians 4:8 which is to, “…Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” More importantly, to not only remember but rather more significantly to put into practice through action what we learn, what we know and what we believe.
