Acts 6:7
So God’s message continued to spread. The number of believers greatly increased in Jerusalem, and many of the Jewish priests were converted, too.
Life Lesson
Today’s word (Word Of Reflection Daily) begins after believers quickly multiply, discontentment becomes prevalent, grumbling increases and complaining more pervasive. It is here wherein the twelve apostles call a meeting to select seven men to be responsible for running the food distribution program.
In pondering over today’s passage the thought which comes to mind is like a pebble dropped into the pond, the splash from it may be small but the ripple effect can be quite large in comparison, longer lasting, farther reaching and overlapping. And so, like a pebble each one of us individually can similarly make that kind of bigger difference as well. First, reaching out, touching and witnessing to someone. Then, those touched in-turn reaches out and witnesses to others. Until very soon, many more are all part of the same movement. Doing Kingdom work, sharing the gospel and spreading the Good News. Thus reaching even more, those further and hopefully those farthest away.
Hence, my take away today is remembering often and as necessary what is summarized so well in my teaching bible where it says, “the word of God spread like ripples on a pond where from a single center, each wave touches the next, spreading wider and farther.”
