In today’s word (Word Of Reflection Daily) I jump from Acts to 1 Corinthians in celebration of Valentines Day.
In meditating over today’s passage the thought which comes to mind, and with love (is) in the air, it’s a great time to remind all of us to pursue loving more like God and less and less like the world. Where his love is of the highest, greatest and the purest kind. A love with commitment, a love without condition, a love of choice, a love of giving, a love of sacrifice, a love which endures, a love which is patient and kind, a love which is forgiving, a love which never loses faith, a love which is forever hopeful and a love which is forever. A love in stark contrast to what love means to the world and hollywood in particular. Where from the worldly perspective, love is commonly based more on feelings, good looks, wealth, occupation, social status, etc. Where love is many times temporary, routinely short-lived, much too often fleeting and sadly brief.
Hence, my take away today is knowing and remembering John 15:12 which says, “…Love each other in the same way I have loved you.” And, Galatians 5:13 which says, “…serve one another in love.” Moreover, Hebrews 13:1 which says, “Keep on loving each other…” Furthermore, 1 Peter 4:8 which says, “…continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.” Also, 1 Corinthians 16:14 which says, “And do everything with love.” Additionally, Ephesians 5:2 which says, “Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.” Together with Galatians 5:6 which says, “…What is important is faith expressing itself in love.” And lastly, 1 John 3:16 which says, “We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.”
