Then I said, “O Sovereign Lord, they are saying of me, ‘He only talks in riddles!’”
In today’s word (Word Of Reflection Daily) we note Ezekiel crying out to God. Apparently, the grumbling of the people was because he spoke in a way puzzling to them was irritating and disheartening.
In meditating over today’s passage several thought which comes to mind is in times of discouragement to continue onward. For He does indeed reward those who don’t give up on their God-given assignment. Mark 13:13 says this about rewarding those who don’t give up and continue being faithful, “And everyone will hate you because you are my followers. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.” Moreover, to continue onward doing God’s work for the right reasons. Not for self, recognition, fame nor fortune. Rather, to bring praise, glory and honor to God. As Revelations 4:11 says, ““You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power…”
Hence, my take away is remembering in times of frustration, disillusionment and discouragement God’s cure. Which is to continuing serving and putting others first. All the while knowing and never forgetting who and why serve.
