Daniel 2:30
And it is not because I am wiser than anyone else that I know the secret of your dream, but because God wants you to understand what was in your heart.
Life Lesson
Today’s word (Word Of Reflection Daily) begins with men from the tribe of Judah captives in a foreign land. Serving under King Nebuchadnezzar in Babylon. It also begins with the King demanding magicians, enchanters, sorcerers and astrologists tell him them about his dream. What he dreamt and what it meant. It is then, threatened with death, Daniel asks, praises and thanks God. To show mercy by revealing to him the secret. Finally, it is here wherein Daniel doesn’t take but rather humbly gives God credit instead.
In meditating over today’s passage several thoughts come to mind and speak loudest to my heart. First, as soon as God reveals the secret to Daniel through a vision the first response by Daniel is to praise and thank God. Expressing gratitude while acknowledging where his wisdom, knowledge and strength comes from. Daniel 2:23 reaffirms this by saying, “I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors, for you have given me wisdom and strength. You have told me what we asked of you and revealed to us what the king demanded.” Second, before Daniel explains the dream, his first gives God the credit so God not he would get the honor and glory. Daniel 2:28 reaffirms this by saying, “But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and he has shown King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in the future. Now I will tell you your dream and the visions you saw as you lay on your bed.”
Hence, my take away is reflecting on how Daniel responded and thus remembering what we have and what we know comes from and are because of Him. Further, reflecting on how Daniel responded as he avoided stealing unmerited credit and did not promote himself. Moreover, that he gave all the glory rightfully to God. So God rightfully received all the honor.
Thank you LORD !
Amen Ken!
