1 Timothy 2:8
Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing.
Life Lesson
In today’s word (Word Of Reflection Daily) Paul continues to give instructions for the church. In particular, about worship and prayer. In Verse 1 he says, “I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.” It here wherein he says to pray in peace. Without anger, contention, disagreement, dispute, argument.
In pondering over today’s passage the thought which comes to mind is anger makes praying difficult and quite challenging. I know for me even approaching anyone while mad, ungrateful, unappreciative and unthankful does make for a good conversation, for a joyous communion nor for a right and righteous relationship. Psalm 85:10 says, “Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other.” Furthermore, Psalm 34:14 says, “…seek peace and pursue it.”
Hence, my take away today is remembering and doing my utmost best to do Matthew 5:23-24 which says, ““Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.” Moreover, remembering and doing my very best to do Ephesians 4:26 which says, ““In your anger do not sin” : Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry,” And lastly, to comply with and allow the Holy Spirit to change me from glory to glory to be more like Him. In His image. For as Psalm 103:8 says, “The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.”
