We had a very special guest passing through this weekend. A first time visitor to our beautiful Hawaiian islands, from LA to going to Manilla. A family member who happens to really love steak.

And so, without hesitation, we made the easy choice to come to “DK Steakhouse”. IMHO one of  the best steakhouse’s (if not the best) in Hawaii. Why” because they are known not just for fabulous 22 oz Bone-in Dry-Aged Rib Eye Steak (30 day is the bomb) but also for their wonderfully excellent service as well. Managing Partner, Ivy Nagayama, and her great staff never fails and always succeeds to give us the royal treatment. Two very good reasons for returning. Plus, not only do they do steak well, we love their appetizers and other delights.  Oh and not to forget sister restaurant “Sansei” which has excellent quality sushi and serves outstanding Japanese cuisine right next door.

However, aside from their mouth watering onolicious food and outstanding service, we look forward to going back simply because they always make us feel so special and treat us like family!

Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Life Lesson

Today’s word (Word Of Reflection Daily) comes from being convicted by the Holy Spirit last night as I drove to Barnes and Nobles. As the song, Love & Honesty, began to play I found myself reflecting on the all to often infidelity and soaring rate of divorce. How at one point in a marriage (or relationship) can be the most exciting, promising, happiest and most joyful of times with unlimited potential, unwavering trust, unconditional love and unending hope. Yet, at fast as it begins, much to often hope and dreams come crashing down. Like a sudden outburst of rain pouring down in torrents, where the sun’s dazzling brilliance beamed just minutes before. Where love shared so freely suddenly ceases to flow and is no longer abound. Where honesty, transparency and integrity were an integral part of the fabric, foundation and the mainstay of the relationship. The glue which helped form two hearts into one. Then without warning, emptiness. Like a desert. Barren, unfruitful and almost lifeless. How could it be? How could it happen?

In meditating over the song and attempting to follow the Holy Spirit’s stirring, what comes to mind is God’s warning against putting our trust and hope in people. Instructing us to put trust and faith in Him instead. For God’s very essence, nature or character is immutable. As He is always faithful and unchanging. Now and forever. He is love. And, he loves so purely and perfectly that no one is able or more capable of achieving or giving. Malachi 3:6 affirms this by saying, ““I am the LORD, and I do not change…”

Hence my take away today is remembering while love & honesty “may” last between people, love & honesty “will” last with and from God. Thus, to reflect on Psalm 146:3 often and as necessary as a timely reminder which says, “Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there.” And also in Psalm 27:10 which likewise says, “Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close.”
